I am a native Arkansan. My hometown is Gurdon, Arkansas (Clark County) and a graduate of Gurdon High School.
While in high school, I was involved in many different school and community organizations. Those included: Student Council, the Gurdon Youth Advisory Council (YAC), National Honor Society, and Beta Club.
My Bachelor's degree is in Secondary Education and Social Studies from Ouachita Baptist University. I hold a Master's of Education degree in Educational Technology from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. My education career started with the Greenwood School District. Currently, I am in my eight year teaching 9-12 Social Studies with Virtual Arkansas. My subject area focus is AP United States History. In the past I have taught United States History since 1890 and World History Since 1450.
In recent years, I have attended national teacher institutes at Mount Vernon, the White House Historical Association, Teaching American History and the American Battlefield Trust. I regularly tune into history webinars with Teaching American History of the Ashbrook Center. In the spring of 2020, I was named the 2019-2020 Virtual Arkansas Teacher of the Year.
In my spare time, I enjoy walking, spending time with family/friends and traveling.
You are invited to follow my blog as I share pictures and historical locations from my travels throughout Arkansas and the United States.
